Jimmy John's joins value menu wars with 'hearty' $10 meal deal

The latest chain to toss its hat into the fast food value menu wars? Jimmy John's.
The sandwich chain is adding its own value combo, the $10 Total Package Meal, to its menu as of Monday. The combo includes an 8-inch sandwich, bag of Jimmy Chips, choice of dessert from cookies and brownies, and a regular-sized drink.
Jimmy John's joins a growing trend of value meals on the menu this summer as fast-food restaurants seek to appeal to budget-conscious eaters. McDonald's recently expanded the limited-time availability of its $5 Meal Deal into the month of August, and perhaps longer.
Taco Bell brought out its limited-time Luxe Cravings Box in late June; also in June, Starbucks launched its $5-$7 Pairings Menu. The month of May saw the arrival of Burger King's $5 Your Way Meal and Wendy's $3 breakfast deal and Jack in the Box's $4 Munchies Menu.
Jimmy John's says their meal deal is 'hearty'
While Jimmy John's price tag comes in above the competition, the company "is officially entering the value wars and putting the current options on the market to the test, because let’s face it, the value meals out there are not nearly enough food for someone looking for a hearty meal," the company said in its promotional information sent to USA TODAY.
The $10 Total Package Meal "is just as hearty as your appetite, delivering Jimmy John’s signature quality in a wallet-friendly package," the company said.
